SacAnime Winter 2017 Exclusive Shirt

During SacAnime Winter 2017 we dropped our second limited edition shirt. We took our X's For Eyes Tee and made it a long sleeve. This was our first con exclusive shirt so we commemorated it with "SACANIME" going down the sleeve. SacAnime has always been good to us so it was our way of giving back.

The shirts did way better than we anticipated and sold out before the convention ended. Were you one of the lucky few who snagged one?

These shirts will not be produced again, but fret not! With Fanime and our two year anniversary coming up there will be more exclusive and limited shirts to come!

2016 Release Retrospective

If you look at 2016 outside of what's happened with Senpai Social Club, it's been a shit year. However if you look at 2016 for the Senpai Social Club, it was a less shit year. You could even argue it was a good one. We attended a few conventions, made some friends, and sold some gear. With 2017 right around the corner, here's a look back on what we released this year.

1. The Posted Tee

Our first release of 2016 still remains as one of our favorites. The whole idea with this shirt was to have something more subtle and straight to the point. Up until then all our shirts had a front and back graphic. With no back design, everything you need to know is in the front shirt. We wear a lot of flannels and jackets and wanted to have a shirt that layers perfectly with those items. The Posted Tee does just that.

2. Wavy Logo Cap

The “Wavy Logo” cap made it’s debut at SacAnime Summer 2016 and it was a huge check off of our “shit to make” list. The text design actually comes from an unreleased graphic and has taken a life of it’s own as one of our primary logos.

Hats are something any brand should have but the logistics of it make them slightly more difficult to produce. “Trendy” Hat styles seem to change every year and hats in general fit differently on each person. So how did we pick what style to go with? We went with what we like. Apologies to the fans of “Dad Hats”, those aren’t really our thing.

3. Characters Button Pack

This button pack was another item to debut at SacAnime Summer 2016. As long time followers of the brand know, we like to make buttons. The Characters button pack features characters we’ve used on either our shirts or promotional images.

4. The Bad For You Tee

The shirt just came out, but the concept was made back when the brand first started. We love Akira’s aesthetics and that jacket is probably the second most recognizable red jackets in the world (this is the first) it only made sense for us to put our own spin on it. Once we came up with the slogan it was game over. It took us over a year to produce this shirt but we think the final product was worth the wait.

And that concludes our 2016 Release Retrospective. Thank you to everyone who has bought our stuff over the past year. We're looking forward to bringing you more good shit in 2017!

2016 Anniversary Release : The White Dugout Tee

Where did the time go? There are some days where it feels like only a month had passed since we took our first squad photo at Fanime 2015. With Fanime 2016 right around the corner it’s hard to believe it’s been almost a whole 365 days since this photo was taken.

When we started Senpai Social Club we had no idea it would grow into what it has become. All we knew is that we wanted to become a “thing”. We forged so many ideas in our Playstation Party chats that we knew we had to bring them to life. The first of those ideas would become our flagship shirt design, the Dugout Tee. We originally printed only enough shirts for the three of us but an error by our supplier gifted us with a couple extra shirts. One of which we were able to sell to our very first customer.

Since then it’s been an incredible ride and learning experience. With this being our first major milestone, we’re taking it back to where it all started, the White Dugout Tee. We were originally going to release both color options of the Dugout Tee but ultimately decided to go with black to fit our “all black” motif. However, this is a special occasion and it calls for a special release.

Limited to 20 pieces, the White Dugout Tee will first be available Fanime 2016 attendees. They will then be put up on the web store following the conclusion of the convention. These shirts will not be reprinted once they sell out.

Thank you all for the support over the last year. You guys will never know how much it means to us here at Senpai Social Club. Here’s to you, plebs.

2016 Drop One: The Posted Tee

Last Friday we officially kicked off our 2016 line with our first release, the Posted Tee.

We decided to keep things minimalistic with this one. It’s definitely our most subtle shirt and is currently the only design that does not feature a back graphic. If loud and obnoxious is not your style, the Posted Tee is the perfect shirt for you to rep the social club with.

Posted Girl is one of our favorite graphics to date and we hope to see her across your chests! And if you love her as much as we do she might end up on a few other products that we may or may not have in store for you guys…stay posted.

#62M9 Button Pack

Having just wrapped up our second “6 To My 9” Giveaway, I figured now would be a good time to elaborate on the prize. If you didn’t know already the prize is an exclusive button pack consisting of five different designs. This pack will not be available for sale and can only be obtained through winning the giveaway. Up until this point only two of the five designs have been officially unveiled. The pack as a whole is random as fuck so allow me to break down and explain why each design is included.

DABBIN DAPS

Some of you may know back in January we had an Artist Alley table at SacAnime Winter 2016. The table provided us with our first IRL meeting with our now friend, artist Book Jackson. He was unable to snag a table at the convention so we offered to advertise his art in exchange for an original piece. He drew up our mascot Daps doing our signature pose for that convention, The Dab. Needless to say we loved it and wanted to return the favor. The Dabbin’ Daps button was included to utilize the drawing and give Book more exposure as a thank you.

WONTON SOUP!

As fun and exciting as having a table during a convention is there is also a lot of downtime that goes with it. You can only see the same cosplayers walk by so many times before you have to find new ways to entertain yourself. We had a few extra buttons around so we offered them to anyone who would come to our table and yell “Wonton Soup!”. Why Wonton Soup? Because it’s delicious. Why Lemongrab? Because having anyone else on the button would be UNACCEPTABLE!

BRA MEMORIAL

I’m now realizing there is an unintentional theme forming with all the designs. The Pink Bra button stems from yet another SacAnime Winter instance. As we were setting up our Artist Alley table on Day Zero we ran into a small problem. After some brain storming I concluded that the solution to our problem was a giant pink bra. The bra also served as a landmark to direct people to our table incase they had trouble finding us. Unfortunately we were told to remove it because selling hentai is ok but a hot pink bra is offensive.

FACESWe just thought these would be funny.

X's For Eyes - Restocked

One of our most asked for shirts has just been restocked! Head on over to our store to get yours now! I think the shirt has an interesting little history to it so I thought I'd share some info on the design.

The X's For Eyes was the second shirt we ever released to the public. It made it's debut at SacAnime Summer 2015. After we generated some hype at Fanime 2015 I wanted to offer something other than the Dugout Tees for SacAnime. I guess even back then I was conscious that I didn't want us to be a one-trick pony. We made only about seven of them for the convention and are just now restocking it.

The design overall was inspired by the band shirts I'd rush to Hot Topic to buy back in the day. If you couldn't already tell by the song in the video it was influenced a lot by the Misfits. It was actually just a back up design to another shirt we had planned for the convention. The original shirt we were going to make was themed with a certain famous anime in mind that we didn't have licensing rights to. Shit got rejected by our printer with the quickness.

A fun fact about this shirt is that it takes a lot from other Senpai Social Club shirts I was designing at the time. Daps' (our character) face was predominantly for a Big Bang shirt I was gonna make to wear at their concert. The stylized text and kanji came from a disney themed shirt I made for the D23 Expo. And the name of the shirt is a twist on a line from the movie Coraline.

So for those of you that have been wanting this shirt, the wait is over! I hope knowing the history of this shirt gets you a little more excited to own it.
